Von Dohren - Grandview's Hard Charger
OLEY, PA - Craig Von Dohren authored an impressive drive from 21st to finish third in Saturday night's NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 358-Modified feature at Grandview (Pa.) Speedway.

The 18-position gain warranted him the Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award.

CVD was forced to qualify through the consolation following a tough-to-pass heat race. Winning the first consi, CVD made a steady charge to the front in Mike Harvey's No. 1c.

He cracked third place on lap 25 and nearly took second after a side-by-side battle in the final four laps. He fell less than a foot shy of the runner-up spot.

The finish leaves CVD fourth in the Grandview 358 standings.

On Friday night at Big Diamond (Pa.) Raceway, the bad luck streak continued. Racing from 10th starting spot to crack the top five, CVD was caught up in a lap-two incident which damaged the car's right-front shock assembly. A DNF and 22nd-place finish resulted.

Work to the Big Diamond car's powerplant during the week appeared to aid the performance, so the anticipated chassis change did not happen.

That means CVD will be at Grandview this Wednesday for the 100-lap Thunder on the Hill Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series big-block Modified event with the Millville Glass No. 1c.
